Butte

The city of Butte is located in the silver Bow County in Montana. It is the county seat. In the year 1977, the city government and the government of the county amalgamated and formed the city and county of Butte Silver Bow. It is a hilly city with a total population of about 33,892. During the day of its rapid development it was considered as a most notorious city of U.S.A. it serves as home to hundreds of saloons and a famous red light district.

During the 19th century the city of Butte began as a mining town. In the beginning only god and silver were mined in the area but slowly with the advent of electricity there became a rising demand for copper which was abundantly found in the area.

Gradually this small town developed into a prosperous area and started being called as the richest hill on earth. It is believed that about half of the copper produced in United States were brought from the city of Butte. Gradually the city became a working hub for the workers from different countries like Wales, Ireland, Canada, Finland, Serbia, Italy, Syria, china, Mexico and different other areas of United States.



According to the information supplied by the United States Census Bureau, the city of Butte occupies a total area of about 1,856 km of land and about 1.7km of water area. Butte is also home to one of the largest deposits of Bornite. Montana Standard is popularly read as local daily newspaper. There is also an independent weekly newspaper, called as 'The Butte Weekly'. Bert Mooney Airport is the only airport in the city that connects it to different countries and states.
