Havre

The city of Havre is located in the Hill County, Montana, United Sates. The city has got its name after the city of Le Havre in France. Actually this area was originally known as Bullhook Bottoms. According to the census report of year 2000 the city holds a total population of about 9,621. Havre is the county seat of the Hill County. Havre was incorporated in the year 1893. The city was founded to serve as a major railroad service for the northern railways. The Amtrak railway Station that serves the city of Havre is marked by a statue of hill.

This is a largest city on the Hi-Line and is the eighth largest city in Montana. Havre serves as a major business and industrial center of Montana. It is also a major medical center for Hi-Line. The tributary of the Missouri River, called as the Milk River runs through the town, and the Bears Paw Mountains can also be seen to the south. The city was highly developed from the time of its inception. This is proved by the small grids of purple colored squares seen in some of the sidewalks in the downtown areas. This proves that many underground malls have been made in the city for about hundred years back.



Many famous archaeological sites and famous destinations are located in Havre such as the Wahkpa Chu'gn buffalo jump, or bison kill, is located behind the Holiday Village Shopping Center near the northwest corner of Havre. Fort Assinniboine is located at about six miles of the south west Havre. This fort served as a major military posts from 1879.
