Named after George A. Custer, Custer County is one of the major counties of Montana. Miles City and Ismay are the major cities of this county. In 1876, followed by the great battle of Little Big Horn, the army of USA built a number of castles in Custer County. Today remnants of this castle can be visited by the general public. Custer County occupies an area of 9,824 square km. To its north west lies Garfield County and to its north lies the Prairie County. Powder river County lies to its south and Carter county to its south east.

Rosebud county lies to its west and the eastern side of Custer County is flanked by Fallon County. The 1880s saw massive expansion of roadways and railways in the area. Today the county possesses wide Broadways and high ways and is well connected to the major cities of USA.

Majority of the people are Whites and an insignificant number of the people are Native Americans. However, a large number of people are also engaged in small scale industries.
