Glacier County is one of the most important counties of Montana. Glacier County occupies an area of 7,866 square km. Around 70% of the land area of Glacier County lies under the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. Glacier County is strategically located within the state of Montana.
It shares its northern border with Canada. To its west lies Flathead County. Toole County is at its est and Pondera County is at its south. Glacier County is home to 13,247 people out of which 61.8% are Native Americans. Amazingly ,however, majority of the population in the county prefer English as the language of communication. German, Hispanic and Latino people are also found in the area. According to the last census the average household income in the county is US$27,921. The per capita income of male was US$27,445 and the per capita income of female was US$23,036 according to the last census.
Glacier County became a part of USA in 1803, however people hardly ever entered the territory as they were scared of being attacked by the Blackfeet tribe. With oil and other minerals being discovered in Montana, many miners and oil investors started flocking to this county which is a store house of natural resources.
