Yellowstone County occupies an area of 6861 square km and is flanked by Big Horn County in the South and south east. Treasure County lies to its east and Rosebud County to the north east. Yellowstone County keeps Golden Valley County to the north west and Stillwater County to the west. To its south west lies the Carbon County. According to the last census the population of Yellowstone County was 136,717. There were a total of 34,219 families in the county according to the last census

The per capita income of males is higher than females in the county. While every man earned US$33,475 every female got only US$21,566 as the per capita income. Molt, Lockwood, Billings, Broadview and Worden are some of the famous towns of Yellowstone County. Vast grasslands and fertile plains are a special feature of the topography of Yellowstone County. Originally resided by the Blackfeet tribal of the Native Americans Yellowstone County celebrates some of those age old customs even today.
