Granite Peak of Bear tooth Mountains is regarded as one of the most difficult mountain to climb with most of the mountaineers and hikers choosing to ascend the peak in a single day. The main stop over is the Froze to Death plateau where the climbers halt during their ascent. These are namely, West Rosebud (Avalanche Lake), West Rosebud (Froze-To-Death plateau), and the East Rosebud Trail head (Froze-to-Death plateau). While the West Rosebud (Froze-To-Death plateau) is a much easier terrain it is exposed to vigorous storms. The Avalanche Lake is a better choice as storms are rare but the terrain is rough and difficult. It is advisable to equip yourself with rope, harness, belay/rappel device and helmet.
